L’Evensong del 2 maggio 2026 è stato un’offerta musicale ricca ed edificante, splendidamente guidata dal coro della cappella nel Magnificat e Nunc Dimittis in re di Herbert Brewer. Quest'amata versione del Magnificat è stata resa con calore e colore espressivo, con il coro capace di coglierne sia l’intimità sia la grandiosità. I brani corali sono stati sapientemente affiancati da inni congregazionali, creando un senso di partecipazione condivisa lungo tutta la celebrazione.

Ad arricchire ulteriormente il programma, l’organo suonato da Gabs ha offerto contrasti e sfumature di grande effetto. I pezzi di J. Lemmens ed E. Batiste hanno messo in luce l’intera gamma espressiva dello strumento — dai momenti delicati e contemplativi ai climax potenti e risonanti. Nel complesso, si è trattato di un’esecuzione equilibrata e coinvolgente, che ha lasciato un’impressione duratura.

Evensong on 2 May 2026 was a rich and uplifting musical offering, beautifully led by the Chapel Choir in Herbert Brewer’s Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis in D. The setting, much loved for good reason, was delivered with warmth and expressive colour, the choir capturing both its intimacy and grandeur. The choral pieces were thoughtfully complemented by congregational hymns, creating a sense of shared participation throughout.

Adding further depth to the programme, Gabs’ organ playing provided striking contrast and texture. The voluntaries by J. Lemmens and E. Batiste highlighted the full expressive range of the instrument—from delicate, contemplative moments to powerful, resonant climaxes. Altogether, it was a well-balanced and engaging performance that left a lasting impression.
