Precision and Warmth in Mozart, Haydn, and Vivaldi

The programme united three celebrated sacred works—Vesperae solennes de confessore K. 339 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Te Deum in C by Joseph Haydn, and Gloria RV 589 by Antonio Vivaldi—under the poised direction of Hannah Zaki. The choir and ensemble performed with clarity, balance, and stylistic sensitivity, shaping each piece with a strong sense of structure and flow. Zaki’s approach favoured precision and coherence, allowing the music’s character to emerge naturally without excess weight.

Supporting the performance was the assured work of Gabs Damiani, the Choral Society's current Accompanist. The organ continuo contributed a steady sense of energy and cohesion throughout the programme, at times adding gentle rhythmic impetus in Vivaldi, sustaining lyrical lines in Mozart, and providing a firm harmonic foundation in Haydn.

Mozart: Solemn Vespers K339
Haydn: Te Deum in C
Vivaldi: Gloria
